When I finish a quilt top, I just don't want to quilt it because I think the design I would choose will ruin it!

Anybody have that feeling???

all the time- i do load them up and get them done- but i always seem to go through that...boy- i hope i don't mess this up...feeling...and i never seem able to stick to a pre-plan- i think i'm going to do one thing then when i start i do something different---
always stressful at the start- once i get going it goes away though.

There are times when I feel that the quilting will detract from the piecing. Thats when I stitch in the ditch.

I am learning to FMQ b/c I was limiting myself to making quilts that looked good with walking foot/straight line quilting only and that was way too limiting...

I don't remember where I learned this tip but you can buy a clear piece of Plexiglass (or even a similar material) and lay it on a quilt. Then draw your quilt design on the plexiglass to "audition" the design. Erase and try again if you don't like it. I have started a binder of FMQ designs to help trigger quilting ideas. I also look at the Daystyle quilting website. She has hundreds of FMQ ideas.

Me too. I've made several tops, but I'm soooo worried that
I'll totally mess up the quilt when I go to quilt it.
