I made three fleece tied bed size blankets for three boys and they loved them. They kept asking you made this? For Me? Each had the design of their favorite sports team.

I made my daughter's best friend a quilt and my daughter told me she cried when she gave it to her. Sure is nice when they appreciate the work you have put in it.

I sent my dad in Ohio, who was an avid fisherman, now in a nursing home, a flannel quilt made from fabric with a fishing/camping theme. His email back to me said: "...THANK YOU FOR COOKIES AND ESPECIALY THE QUILT WHICH IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOW PUTS ME TO SLEEP THINKING OF CAMPING AND FISHING !!!"

(for some reason, he always shouts now in his emails ... all caps!)

I had fun making this one for him.

Thanks, everyone, this is such a nice, heartwarming post. I made mug rugs for everyone in my office and I got a great response. When I was wrapping them, I was thinking each one is a miniature quilt. They were wonderful practice binding- my miters are so much better now~ Merry Christmas!

My cousin loved her throw. I used lots of shades of purple and green, because when we go on our annual shopping expedition, she has a problem finding clothes in the 'right' shade of purple and she likes a certain shade of green for kitchen accessories. My nephew loved the throw I made him with Boy Scout fabric. At the time I was planning his quilt, I could only find one licensed print in stock, online and local. So I got that and found a yellow fabric printed with arrows which brought to mind 'the order of the Arrow' for scouts. He is 9 years old and has a lot of earned patches and his mother said he needs something to sew his patches to. This fits the bill and as a nice year old, I was surprised he studied it close enough to recognize the print, with all the toys he did get for Christmas!

My niece's 3 kids all loved their quilts. For the oldest (6) I made a barbie quilt with a pillowcase and made a smaller bow tuck purse to go with it. She said she loved it. The boy (4) said wow and then put it in the bag again. By the way when he said wow he was looking at the back and hadn't even seen all the monster trucks on the front and the little one(3) loved the sunbonnet sue quilt. My sister had to take it away so she could open her other gifts. I also made her a 3ft Christmas stocking that the quilt was in. Both my sister and niece thought they were gorgeous and my niece said she just might have to borrow the barbie quilt as she loved the colors.

I don't know yet. USPS Priority Mail service did not get my package to NC on Thurs as expected, so friends left Thurs night for GA without it. :( Hopefully it has arrived by the time they get back on Monday. They will forward the quilts to their daughters in GA & HI for me. Guess I will find out Monday if the package arrived and next year if the kids liked the quilts. :)

I made rag quilts for my MIL and GrandMIL (104 yrs old!) and they loved them! I also made kitchen towel sets of 2 towels and a potholder for my DD, DS, and DH with special-to-them embroidered designs. Also have some for some friends we will see later during the holidays.
This was for a wedding, and not Christmas, but gave a special Texas Hill Country quilt to a friend last week. She cried.
I love to give these works of my hands away. It just feels right, doesn't it?

My dil just started tearing up with joy when she received her quilt..You can't buy that at Wallyworld! My son's girlfiend, hasn't take her scarf off that I made her since she opened the gift Thursday nite. She wore it to work even, and today she brought her blankie that I made her to travele to family today. So much pleasure to see her
curled up in the back seat asleep and warm, with her treasures. Yep, I like this homemade stuff!

I made lap quilts for my 2 DD's, 1 GD and a baby quilt for a DGGD. All were loved & appreciated. GD was immediately wrapped up in hers according to her mom. :) Haven't heard from the other daughter. She had a housefull all day long.
