Default help please with a project

I am working on this medallion quilt posted here:
http://bloominworkshop.wordpress.com...are-triangles/
I was thinking about not doing triangles on this row... how would I cut the pieces to get the same effect, and only do one strip instead of piecing this with triangles?

They look like 2 flying geese put together to me. I would use this easy flying geese method that doesn't use triangles. http://www.connectingthreads.com/tut...hods__D16.html

thanks, that's what i'm doing for the zigzag border, the one I'm confused about is the slanted squares made with hst?
don't know how to cut that with a ruler

oh, thanks for the flying geese method, I haven't tried this one yet. I already cut for no waste flying geese

I don't know that I understand your question, but the images in the link made me think of the strip piecing I learned about here: http://www.angelfire.com/va3/jclane/.../LoneStar.html

Instead of piecing triangles, could you piece strips in a stair step then cut strips on an angle to get the shape?

Okay!!! Now I see what you want. Couldn't you do it just like you piece for a friendship braid then trim off the excess?

I think Jaspersu has the right idea!!! You are going to cut them using the 45 degree marking on your ruler.
