Sheree from Chicago - you talked about the 1/4" foot and quilting in the ditch. Have you tired using an edging foot or your blind hem foot for quilting in the ditch. It works like a charm flang in the center rides in the ditch and follows the seams. It is great. Some blind hem feet cna do the same thing.

I SECOND that suggestion. i like the blind hem foot best for ditch quilting because you can adjust the position of the flang.

I have to check that foot out for stiching in the ditch, which is one of my least favorite quilting because it is a pain to stay in the ditch. Off I go shopping. Thanks for the info :!:

jcizzard -

I'm fairly new at quilting, having made only three quilts so far, all paper peiced. I got into quilting four years ago after I had a lung removed due to lung cancer. I always wanted to accomplish making a quilt, and thought I better hurry up and do this. Recovery for me was Karen Stone's New York Beauty which was a big undertaking for someone who had never quilted, but it got me through a very difficult time. I worked on it for most of my waking hours, worried I would not have enough time to finish it. Well, that was four years ago, and I am now on my third quilt!

I really enjoy this quilting website, and have learned so much. Thank you for the info on additional feet that can be used for quilting in the ditch. I appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge!

Sheree, it would be fun to see your New York Beauty quilt. If you can please attach a picture. It might give others who are ill or not some inspiration. Glad you made it and I agree this is a nice forum. I am off to show someone how to cut 5" squares using June Tailors Shape Cuts ruler. It is for our 5" trades at our quilt guild.
