Default Square Dance dress now, quilt later.

I made this dress many years ago and always loved it. However, now I don't have a partner and probably can't get into it so it is time to make it into a quilt.

I use to be a square dancer for many years, and I have so many dresses that I bet I can't get into either. Great idea making your dress into a quilt! Then you will always remember the fun times dancing!

I once found a 2 piece square dance dress at a garage sale. The skirt was made from gathered tiers, the bottom row being about 8" wide and gradually getting a little narrower going up. The fabric looked like an Alexander Henry cowboy print with rows in various colors -- mostly red and navy. There was lots of yardage in it. Anyway, I picked it up and got more than 2 children's quilts from it. They looked great!

Anybody recognize this as a Giant Dahlia quilt pattern. That's what it started out as.
