Default Dimension Advice for Wall Quilt

I'm making some wall quilts/hangings to donate/sell for the Dog Rescue I work with, and before I start I need help with my dimensions...

I've decided to do a 24x24 inch quilt. here are the two basic mock ups I have right now the first is with a 12 inch center w/ 1 & 2" borders and the second is with an 18 inch center and 1" borders. The 3rd & 4th are embellished mock ups we are taking to the Pride Festival in Dallas next weekend.

I think I like the 12 inch better, but more opinions are always better!!

I know I have made wallhangings in lots of different sizes from 12 x 12 to 24 x 36 and a couple even bigger. My friend just bought a kit and the dimensions were 36 X 48! I think for your project you should go about 24 X 24 or adjust it so the width is a little greater than the length or vice versa. No set rules!

I love them. I think that dimensions don't really matter. I have seen quilts hung above beds in stead of headboards and they were huge. I think they are lovely.

Cute ideas. I think that borders usually look better when they are different sizes, rather than several of the same size.

It depends on the effect you want. More border and wider borders give more opportunity for quilting. Bigger center block features the main design more. Both versions are quite cute.
