HELP EMERGENCY Sophia's Christmas stocking is flimsy
Hi, I'm making a Christmas stocking for my newest Granddaughter. I made it like a crazy quilt in assorted thin fabrics lived with Muslim. It looks really nice so far, but I don't think it is stiff enough to hold it's shape. It's about 24 inches long and sort of like an elf stocking. I want the toe part of the stocking to curl up a bit. Any idea's of a lining that is stiff enough to add to it. I was thinking of a fabric softener sheet.

Is it already sewn together? If it is, then maybe you can turn the toe part out and stitch a piece of interfacing along the seam line and then turn it right side out again. (a couple of fabric sheets would work too)If it is still in pieces, layer of Christmas pre-quilted fabric on both the front and back pieces inside should give it lots of stability.

Hi, Stuffing the toe sounds wise. Should I encase it with muslim? This stocking is not my favorite project. all of the fabrics and this very thin fancy fabrics with lots of glitter. They look pretty but they just unravel and fall apart at the slightest touch. I would not consider making something with these fabric's except if you are my Granddaughter. Well I do need God's blessings right now as I am going back to this project and need to finish it this evening.

It might be too much trouble, but I think you could stuff the toe a little (you'd probably want to secure it so it would not shift when hanging) and then make a separate lining of our felt, insert and just stitch at top so it isn't seen. Felt would have a bit more body that musliN. If you put the second lining all the way to the toe, You might not need the stuffing .
