Default what do you guys think?

http://siterepository.s3.amazonaws.com/556_1004.jpg

I was inspired by the quilt on this link to make a quilt for my nephew who is having surgery

I started last night and made 4 blocks.. but I am not so sure. I have some flannel layer cakes that I am using. The flannels are all pretty dark and I have camo minky for the back... so I think the quilt will need some contrast that is why I have the off white sashing.

What do you guys think? One look I like it the next look am not so sure. Should I make the sashing thinner? I started with 1-1/4" strips finish at 3/4" Should I go to 1" to finish at 1/2"

I like it for a nephew. I wouldn't change the size of the sashing.

i really like it. perhaps try a setting with very narrow sashings for the matching fabrics and a thicker sashing between each set of four?... just a thought

I think the proportion of the sashing & blocks is perfect! That is a great layer cake you are using. You might be overthinking this, that 1/4" isn't going to be noticed.

Maybe you're hesitant because your sashing is white, whereas pic is black....try the natural color muslin...that would go well with homespun/plaids....jmho

The lighter gray really stands out from the rest.

I like what you are doing. I feel the sashing size is a perfect size. Love your fabric you are using and it looks so cozy and warm and so masculine. Good luck to your nephew for his surgery and what a wonderful aunt you are.
