I haven't tried it. It scares me with all the pins and such that go with quilting. I don't know that I'd hit the button quick enough to stop.

I use my Start/Stop button all the time now. I had to get used to it. My knee bothered me when using the foot pedal so I tried the start/stop button & haven't quit.
In fact, my foot pedal is put away in the drawer!

Give it a try!!

I'm learning to use it and I like it but I have the speed down to the second slowest so I can get prepared to hit the button to stop. Using the foot pedal never bothered me much, though, especially when I can tell my machine how fast to go.

I use it only for winding bobbins (LOVE it for that). Otherwise, I like the ability to change speed with a change in pressure on the foot pedal, and don't think I could get used to the stop/start button.

I use the start/stop so much that I've worn the lettering off the button. Since I started using it, I can't seem to get myself coordinated enough to use the foot pedal.

I used the button when I first got my machine. Thought it was so cool. That was until I have a brain lapse and forgot to hit the button. Now I only use the foot pedal. Find it better when I need two hands for quilting.

I have one and use it for long strips - you can adjust the speed of the machine - so I slow it down when using that button. Its great.
