Because of the price of the bigger OTTLites, I bought a regular light bulb with the curly que and it is OTT. I got it Joanns for about $4 and you can screw it into any regular lamp or floor lamp. I was really surprised that it was an OTT. It says on the bottom that it is made in China, Model 15ED420 and brightness is 900 lumens, light appearance 5850 K, 15 watts energy used. I got it about August of 2016. I would like another one so the next flyer that comes out, I hope they are in there or I can use the coupon. Worth trying out I'd say.

aborning - Did you decide on a portable light to take with you to retreats? I agree with you that many times the lighting can be poor at classes or retreats and your own extra lighting is needed - I like the idea of having one that is easy to pack and carry - espeially the ones that are solar charged or battery operated so that they do not require a close electrical outlet.

I did pick up a few Ott bulbs like the one Ragamuffin described and am using them in fixtures/lamps that I had until I replace my floor model. E ven though it may require an electrical plug, getting daylight bulbs might also be an inexpensive option for you if you have a portable fixture that can be used.

I did order an OTT light from Amazon. I ordered the Daylight UN 1062 Naturalight Hobby Table Lamp and I believe it has 27W of light. I am anxious to get it. If I like it, I am going to order the same one that they have as the floor lamp, to put for extra light by my cutting table that is in a corner that is not as well lit as the rest of the room. I decided on this one because the similar style one that JoAnn's has, does not have as bright a light and many of the reviews for that one showed that it has a a switch that is faulty. The cost for the lamp I ordered was just a little bit more (with shipping) than the one at JoAnns (with using the 50% off coupon). After I get it, I will post on here about if I like it or not.

Check out Daylights, they have amazing lights. They even have one that mounts onto the side of your machine, you can adjust it to where you want it. It even comes with two mounts so that you can slide if off of one and put it onto another with ease. I have their light table for tracing, its unbreakable, I have a pole light that mounts onto my table or you can get the stand and it moves around and my next one will be the one that mounts to the machine. The lights really help you see but doesn't have harsh glaring lights. That's the first thing that I'm looking for at the Hampton Roads quilt show. I know out sew n vac store has them. They have a great website.

No one around here sells the machine lights. I have the other brand, and I have a Juki 2010. The other brand is made to fit a machine with a flat end or side. The Juki is rounded and the stick on end is also round like a quarter. It isn't hanging on by much on the apex of the Juki's curve.

What does the attachment end for the Daylights machine light look like?

[QUOTE=cashs_mom;7745487]I have several Ott Lites and they do give really good light. My husband made fun of the one I bought to put by the place I sit in the evenings and sew or read until he sat there one night, then he wanted his own Ott Lite. The only drawback to them is that if you have them a long time, they don't make replacement bulbs anymore that really fit. I posted a whole thread here on their customer service when I had an issue. They really won't tell you anything in an email and their customer service is open M

That's weird. I have replaced the bulb in three of my Ott Lites. Two of them are over a decade old. My challenge is the durability of the tall lamp's poles. They get wiggly and there is no fixing that.

I purchased one of the table LED lamps with a round base, a flexible, rubbery neck, and a long, skinny bulb area. I really, really like it and I can aim it just about anywhere. I got it at Joann.

This is the best thing I have found in some time to "light up my life". LED strip sewing machine lights! Do a search on Amazon and check them out. Look for the LED strip light sets. They attach directly to the upper part of the throat of your machine and have a toggle switch that attaches to the back of your machine for on and off. You can place them where they help you the best. I bought the "inspired LED" brand because it had the most reviews. I can only see out of one eye and now I can now see black thread on black fabric!
OTT lights are great and I own several both plug in portable and floor models. But these strip lights add it to the machine needle area and makes a world of difference.

I experienced that problem - until I took the old "curly" bulb to a Home Depot. The lighting guy found a replacement that was exactly what I needed. Problem solved !

I just saw this weekend where Daylights have coming out within the next month or so some really great lights especially made for traveling due to their size. Love their lights, they aren't harsh and really last a long time. The prices on the ones coming out are great too.
