I was wondering what stitch length everyone uses when machine quilting.

Don't take my word for it since I've only done it once, but if your feed dogs are down, you pretty much determine the stitch length when you move the fabric around.

Thanks you. I think I need to clarify abit. I was wondering about when you stitch in the ditch or go from corner to corner.

My machine's default setting is 2.5 and that it was I use when piecing and stitching in the ditch.

I always set a slightly longer stitch length than I would normally use for sewing. My machine measures stitches with 5 being the longest and 1 the shortest, I use about 3 for stitch-in-the-ditch quilting and topstitching. Depends on the thickness of what I'm sewing.

Here's a website about stitch length.

I use the same size as when piecing. On my machine it is slightly less than 2.

I use a walking foot and increase my stitch length to at least 3...sometime a little more depending on the fabric. Otherwise my quilt will sit under the presser foot and get stitched to death in the beginning of the seam.
