Default Stitch length??

Ladies,
It has been awhile since I've pieced a quilt and binded a quilt. I'm planning on binding 2 quilts today, at least get the binding sewn on.

In the back of my horrible memory I think I changed stitch length.

So, is there a difference? I have a Viking Husqvarna and it currently set to "2".

Any thoughts?

TIA,
Ginger

I always use the same stitch length, that being said I am going to watch this post and see what others say. Maybe there is a better way to do it!

I searched "stitch length" here and nothing appeared. I just googled it and it actually took me back to a thread from this board. It seems as though 2 or 2.5 is what others are using.

HTH....

I always use a 2.2 to piece, but go to 3.0 when I sew on the binding because it is so much thicker to sew through the binding, two layers of fabric and the batting. ;o)

Binding or piecing, the minimum I sew with is 2 .... most times I go for 1.8

I piece with 1.5 using thin thread. Can't even see my stitches most of the time, they sink into the fabric and the seam lays very flat.

I use the same stitch length to put on binding as I do for quilting. 2.7 on my machine.

I use 2.0 on my machines... small enough to not unravel but not too small for Mr. Ripper when needed!

I've never changed my stitch length from piecing to binding. I use the same, about a 2.

I use 2.5 for binding.. as the bulk of the sandwich tends to shorten the stitch.
