    Default Stitcher's Garden Quilt

I almost have my top done for this quilt. But I am having problems with how to finish it. The squares that are the main part of the quilt already have batting behind them. The background is already quilted and the appliqué is added on top of that. My thoughts are to go ahead and put batting on the whole quilt and stitch in the ditch around the main squares.
If anyone has done one of these quilts how did you finish it??? Any thoughts or advice will be appreciated.

We are doing this BOM now through a local quilt shop..We have two more months of blocks then we start putting her together.....All of our squares have Request batting on the back (it's very thin)...Once the blocks are put together, then we will put our quilts together as normal...top, batting, backing....I plan to do SITD as well as some FMQ'ng, using the Ultra Pounce Pad and stencils....I look forward to seeing your finished quilt.......

Thank you Sandi...........Your doing yours the way I thought it should be done too. I have just never seen a quilt done quite this way. I want to have mine done by March. The club I belong to is having a Gathering and I want it for the quilt show . When I get the top all done I will post it .

I have a friend who has completed this quilt. She has a longarm and quilted the quilt with Hobbs 80/20 batting with no problems with the extra layers. She did not do much quilting in the "pre-quilted" blocks other than echoing the flowers, leaves, etc. I am currently working on my own and plan to use a GOOD grade polyester batting as her quilt was quite heavy. Other than that, the quilting shouldn't be a problem. One note - we both used Quilter's Dream 70/30 batting on the individual blocks which is fairly thin batting if you're not familiar with it. Good Luck!
