I sometimes use my walking foot to stitch in the ditch. However, most often I use my open toe quilting foot and FMQ it. That is my preferred way and it is a matter of practice. I haven't looked into purchasing a special foot because I have found success the other way. A quilter needs to be open to trying something new to achieve success.

I use them on my diamonds. Yep, moderate speed. Have not had any problems with it digging into the fabric. Help me stay on track.

I need to use mine if I want the stitching to be straight. The metal part of the foot goes into the seam line and the stitching is therefore just to the right of the actual seam stitches. Before I got the foot, I thought SID should be sewn right onto the existing stitches so I was confused when I first used it. I then did some on-line research, which said that my SID foot was behaving correctly and that sewing directly through the quilt seam stitches is not a good thing.

I have one for my Pfaff and it took a little practice, but now I find that it really helps. Good luck. Try slowing down, that helped me.

I like to use my open toed walking foot and a moderate to slow speed. It also helps if you press your seams open.

I found my SITD became a lot easier when I improved my lighting! Sounds simple, but even during the day, a good daylight bulb aimed correctly makes it so much easier to see the stitch line.

I have "foot 5" the stitch in the ditch foot for my Bernina and really think it helps. It was a good investment. Slow and easy is the rule though.

I just use my normal everyday foot, which has a clear plastic insert with a gap in the middle so I can see exactly where the needle is. Much easier than the sid foot.

I have one, but usually forget to use it. Try slowing down. Usually I am ok as long as I focus and take it slowl

I never stitch in the ditch if I can help it - too much concentration! Even with the foot it's never precise enough for me, so I stopped the agony some time ago, lol.

I either shadow stitch 1/4" in if it's simple enough blocks, or use a meandering stitch across the seam
