All the quilts that I have made (and the few that I have kept) are "to be used" style and since we are headed into spring and summer, I am trying to figure out the best way to store them. We won't need them again till fall/winter but I don't want them to get damaged between now and then. Any suggestions?

I store mine on a pants hanger and cover them with muslin and hand them in the closet. The muslin keeps them clean from dust and allows the fabric to breath. No plastic cover!

On a bed in a spare bedroom under the spread/comfortor.

I use the heavy rolled cardboard hangers the custom drapery makers use & hang quilts in closet & cover with an old sheet.

Do not use cedar chests - they eat the fabric were touching the wood.

I use batting cardboard rolls. This works great and a I have a stand that I put them on. they actually look great all rolled up.
I store my smaller ones in a closet on a shelf.
Never in plastic, wrap an old sheet around the quilt to keep any dust off. I usually don't wratp them if I use them a couple times a year.
Enjoy!

On a bed layered is probably the best way.
If you can't do that, I would lay a sheet or something
on a shelf in a closet, and then fold the quilts with the outside
out, and stack on the shelf.
Rolling is also a good idea if you can find something
to roll them around.

I store all mine in matching pillowcases in my linen closet. Just glancing at the pillowcase let's me know what quilt is in there without shaking it out.

Rolling them puts the least stress on the fabric. Makes sure any storage container is either cotton or acid free. I don't consider any of mine masterpieces so they are for the most part rolled and stuffed in cotton pillowcases when they are not being used.

I fold them and put in a pillow case... But every two months I refold , as to avoid a permanent crease.
