I use them as the bottom part of a bag, as in a tote bag as a contrast to the main fabric.

I love stripes for borders, binding or even sashings.

I love stripes, they are really good for backings, bindings and borders.

I have two quilts planned that will use stripes. One is a variety of striped fabrics, mostly bright colors, simply cut in large squares and sewn with a wide white sashing. I plan to alternate the direction of the stripes in each placement. My aunt has a quilt made up like this on her porch swing and it is darling!

The other is a Warm Wishes quilt with the strip block having 5 strips. The two outer strips will be my striped fabrics, and will be sewn adjacent to the focus fabric. I am hoping this will add movement to the layout.

Now I just hope I will be able to cut those striped fabrics straight!!!

I have used directional patterns (not stripes) and they require a special forethought so they go in the "right" direction in the block or the border. I always notice when mine don't and I get upset that I didn't notice before sewing them down. (Generally I leave them as is though)

Stripes are also really good for pillow case cuffs, especially for young ones.

Stripes can be very effective in diamond patterns - like stars - as long as you plan your cuts. I have used them in flower baskets, also

I love stripes, but agree that they are hard to use.

I like using stripes, but prefer a more decorative rather than just plain ones like these :D:D:D
