Batting with scrim....using it for a table runner......which way up? I usually lay the batting with the scrim ide down on the backing fabric but am wondering if the same rule applies for a table runner that will gt most of its wear and rub on its top rather than the back? Any advice?

Silly me, I just assumed there was scrim on both sides. Would there not be bearding on the other side if there is no scrim? I do rather wish I had/could have taken some classes. I have wasted a lot of time because I didn't know how to do something. I also await someone who can answer your question.

When I first started quilting I was told that the scrim should be facing down. Sometimes I forget to look as I have batting with and without scrim. But there aren't any quilt police.

Batting with scrim, how do you know which side is which? I didn't know it had 2 sides.

The Hobbs Poly-down has scrim in the middle. Hmmm.. I didn't know there was batting with scrim on the outside.

I was told that if the scrim is slightly visible, that should be toward the side that gets the most wear.

Unless you are making a quilt or table runner that will be used and passed along to several generations, it makes no difference. So make and enjoy.

Love the pattern.. Is it Judy Neimeyer's? What is the name of the pattern if you care to share? I am making a Desert Sky now...taking a ton of time, but so beautiful!!!!

Yes sailsablazin it is a Judy Neimeyer pattern: Compass Rose. I just finished a Desert Sky and thoroughly enjoyed that one too.
