Wellllllllllllllllllllll. It's not "Storm at Sea" but "Under a Stormy Sea"

It's the same pattern but it is "stretched" into larger pieces

I thought about making one, then I came to my senses. Lots of small triangles. Good luck with yours.

I have one in my WIP collection -- I love the pattern. It's not terribly difficult if you use the right rulers -- tri-angler I think. I definitely plan to complete mine in 2012 -- it's such a pretty design when completed.

Well, it has severe diagonals, so they stretch miserably... and is immensely effort-intensive.... it is actually a 54-40 block with elongated diamonds in the sashing strips with corner blocks....so it's really 3 different block designs, put together with 1 block, 4 corner, and 4 sashing sides.... only you can decide whether it is worth it..., but i'd rather make 3 other quilts in the same amount of time...

Not only will you make one, you'll show us how beautiful it is once you're finished.

No way will I talk you out of it! One of my favs!!

You know you can paper piece it? Will make those tricky angles easier and bias problems disappear.

It is on my to do list. Definitely buy some of those rulers and get the super sized rulers so you have extra large and bigger pieces. No one says storm at sea has to be made with mini pieces. It looked doable and fun to me. Just start with big blocks and a smaller lap size quilt. Have fun.
