    Default Teaching children to quilt...

There have been several threads on this topic recently. There is another skill that I participated in this past weekend - choosing colors. My DGDs Girl Scout Troup was making some fundraiser skirts. These are non-sew... except for sewing the elastic in a loop. The girls tied 36 strips of fabric to this loop. The adults did all the cutting. All the 3x26 strips were laid out on long tables and the girls went down the row picking the right combo of colors to make their skirts. There was a lot of discussion about colors, lights/darks, and how many of each. The 3rd grade girls really did a great job putting the combos together. I wish I'd gotten pictures, but I spent 3.5 hrs. standing at the cutting table with just one break... whew!!!!
