Not odd at all, I'm thinking a quilter who doesn't do that occasionally is the odd one. I have an even odder quirk...for years I worked on an IV Team (intravenous therapy) in two separate hospitals. To this day I can't help noticing peoples'
hands and arms, especially when they have beautiful veins. Now, I don't care who you are, that there's odd in anybody's book!

I have just never liked either stripes or plaids, I wish I did.
Coming from the sewing backround that I do, I would have to have every block exactly on straight of grain.
That right there would take any pleasure out of the quilt for me.

Okay, I'll buy that. So how about we change quirk to aversion.
I used to make plaid shirts for my husband all the time because he loved plaid.
I guess I just like florals, paisley, TOT a lot better. However, I do have some large prints that might even be considered Hawaian.
My quirk comes in that I'm bugged if straight lines are crooked. Some of my girls say that makes it "folksy".

I began to feel guilty (thinking maybe I wasn't a bonafied quilter) so I searched out some patterns that used plaid.
OK, I could make some houses with plaid roofs.
I went to JoAnn's and picked out these little pkgs of homespun, I guess. Plaids that were muted shades and had a string tied around the bundle.
Brought them home, washed & dried, ironed them while still damp. Was not impressed with flaws, not uniform cuts, etc.
There still in my stash. Maybe someday...or not :?:
