What would be a fair price to charge for making a lap quilt if the fabric was provided. About 45 by 60. It would be a simple pattern, possibly a rail fence or pinwheel. Does anyone use a formula like so much a square inch or square foot? I have done alot of quilting but it has bee mostley for family or friends and I have never charged for them. If you have any ideas please help.

Sorry, but I have no idea how or what you would charge.
I do, however, pay by the square inch to have one quilted.
Hope this is of some help.

If the fabric has been provided, then if I were you I would just keep track of the hours of work you put into it, and charge an hourly rate that you think is fair. Not sure what the minimum wage is in the US (if thats where you are?) but remember that cleaners and manual workers get at least that, so your skilled work would be worth more than minimum wage. Add on the cost of any of the materials that you use of your own (thread etc) and then add on to all that the profit you think is fair...which all depends on who you are making it for, how much they can afford, and how much you like them!

    Hope this helps.

There was a thread about a month ago on just this topic. if you go back through the topics you will find it. Good information in there. Some people suggested charging 3x what they put into materials. Hope this helps.
