    Default templates

Just curious if you quilters use/like the Marti Mitchell templet kits. I purchased several when I first began quilting and have never used them. I notice she has a book out now. Also the monthly blocks of Farmers wife (?) or something like it. I would like to use mine as they looked so cool and exact for cutting.
    Thanks.

I got her Drunkard's Path template set this week and love it. I made the two September Craftsy BOM blocks using her templates and they made cutting out the block so easy. My finished blocks look perfect. Use your templates. I know you'll like them.

Thanks for the reply. You have given me encouragement.. Instead of getting them out and looking at them I will try them.

I have her Winding Ways templates and the Drunkards Path. I've made the Winding Ways and it was easy! I've also gotten some from John Flynn and his are just as good but I like Marti's better because she has better techniques for sewing them together.

If you are going to use templates, hers are good ones.

One of the LQS has a BOM sew along and they use her templates. I had to purchase them to be able to participate in the BOM. I cut out the first pieces last night and sewed them together. Everything went together nicely (only lost one point when sewing and that was user error). I did enjoy using them since it was much easier cutting out shapes when working with a limited amount of fabric. Less chance of "oops" when cutting out with the template vs traditional rotary (in my opinion and with how I usually cut).

I have some of her basic (suns and triangles/8 pointed stars) templates and really like them because they take off the bunny ears and have little holes to start and stop. The only thing I need to do to them is put some sandpaper on the back so they don't skip around when cutting.

I bought the B set to participate in a BOM at a local shop. I though they worked great, saved fabric and made easy to set together pieces with the "dog ears" cut off. I also ended up buying the D set as it works with the B set and makes more designs possible. I do like the templates but added some silicone dots to keep them from sliding.
