Welcome to the board Carmen. Each of the shapes in that quilt is made of much smaller pieces of fabric some rectangles, some strips with points on them. We will need to figure out the name of the quilt and see where you can find a pattern for it. Sorry I don't have it.. but I know someone will know it. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgable here.

Each square block is basically three strips, the top and bottom strip are contrasting fabrics and the middle one is those fabrics joined with a diagonal seam in the middle of the strip. Each alternate block is rotated through a right angle. Try http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html - you'll probably find the block there, (and many, many more!).

Welcome from Eastern Canada. I hope these sites/blogspots will help you. The pattern is on my 'to-try' list.
