I had 2 Moda Tweet, Tweet charm packs that I had bought a couple months ago and just this last week started on making a D9P lap quilt. When I got them put together and looked at the size on my display wall it didn't look big enough to me so I went back to the LQS I had gotten them from and bought another pack. I got home and started laying them out in the patterns that I wanted and started sewing the nine patches together. Then I noticed that there were different sizes!! They weren't matching up! I measured some and found that there were some 5 1/8" square and some were just barely 5" square. I started measuring all of them and sorting them in piles and found that there were more of the 5 1/8" than the 5". I guess you could look at this and say...well, you got a bit more fabric for what you paid for. That's true, but when you're doing a project don't you think you should be confident that you can purchase pre-cut fabrics and they will ALL be the same so you don't have to trim or mess with it? Isn't that the point of buying pre-cuts so you don't have to worry about this sort of thing???

Thanks for letting me blow off steam...LOL Has anyone else ever come across this problem?

thanks for sharing with us so we will know to measure if we buy any

I thought charm packs was an exact measurement, that is terrible

did you call your LQS (Local Quilt Shop) and tell them they were different sizes so they can contact supplier???

Buyer beware!

So sorry you had that problem. I usually buy more than I think I will need so I haven't had that problem. But I would be quite upset if I got that far and found that problem. I usually buy 2 charm packs at a time to be sure I have enough when I decide to use them. I will remember what happened to you though, I I decide to get more of something.

I buy a lot of charm packs and store them in one tote. They all line up perfectly. And I am a big fan of Moda. Were your packs pre-packaged by Moda or by the LQS? I have been in shops where they take the fabric from the bolt and cut their own charm packs. Maybe this happened with yours? You should be able to tell by the label.

I use a lot of pre-cuts, and I always have to re-cut them, or fudge for the inaccuracies. They aren't usually correct, in my experience. I've had layer cake squares that aren't even square!

I wonder how often when we buy what we think are Manufacturer's cuts, are really LQS cuts? Hmmmm

I've had some precut strips that are off about1/8 inch - but I didn't find out until several squares were done - and they were nearly 3/4 inch off!

Write Moda a complaint letter, perhaps they will apologize and send you some goodies!!
