I'm making a baby quilt and am using appliqué and embrodery on it. My problem is becoming the transfer of the story I'm using. I've tried transfer sheets that are supposed to be used in sewing projects(think marking darts in dressmaking)-that simply wasn't dark enough or stayed on the muslin long enough(it was disapearing ink?). I decided that I would get carbon paper for typing and try that. It worked great except I moved the paper I was transfering and caused the lettering to be above the lines they are supposed to be resting on. I can make adjustments to the lettering but the carbon marks don't want to be erased, does anyone know if they would come out by washing or should I just pick up a new piece of material and start over on this little part?

If I were you I would just try it, get a piece of scrap fabric it can be tiny, draw a line using the carbon paper, and try washing it out. if it comes out then it comes out :) , if not, then I would be starting over. :(

Thanks, I guess I'll try that and see what happens.

Hair spray removes ink, maybe it would remove carbon ink, too

What I've been using recently for embroidering is a fine brown permanent Pigma pen. It's amazing how it is totally covered with your stitching, or blends in so well, and you can get such a fine line rather than the heavier lines the disappearing pens make. Not sure whether I first read that on one of my Crabapple Hill patterns or where, but it works great, and the ladies at the LQS all use it now too.
Hope your carbon comes off for you.
