My mother was a cake decorator and she hated purple. Said it made her sick to her stomach to have to work with that color.

I have to say that I don't like purple....except in quilts! Purples and lavenders are wonderful in quilts. I must be weird. Anyone else have a color they don't like but do like it in quilts?

Sandy colored neutrals. I don't care for pink much, but it shows up in my sewing with surprising frequency. I don't mind purple, but I just don't end up using it much. But I have a real aversion to sewing with tans. I don't want to do it.

This was a fun post to read all the comments.
My favorite colors are blue and yellow. There are lots of people that don't like yellow. I was looking for a car a few months ago hoping I could find a yellow one. I didn't find it. I guess I take after my grandma. She had yellow everything. Even her dogs and cats had to be yellow. She was highly allergic to roses but had hundreds of yellow roses in her yard. I guess everytime I see yellow I think of my grandma.
My least favorite colors though are reds and pinks. I'll work them in something occasionally but for the most part I stay away from them.
I just realized the bandanas on my dogs in the avatar are blue and yellow.

I will use any color under the sun in my quilts if I think it belongs there. I love the contrast of blue & purple against yellow - they are opposite on the color wheel and I think they are striking used together. I do not like orange, brown (boring), mustard yellow or dirty gold. But I made a nice quilt with all those colors in it. I fell in love with a particular floral border fabric and I bought other fabrics in that line and make my Pink Lemonade quilt with them. Somehow I didn't mind working with those oranges/golds/browns. Usually I only use browns in men's quilts.

pastel pinks and blues - our Mom dressed my sister and me in too many of these during our growing up years.

I think I do not like a color...earth tones or another combination and then I see a gorgeous quilt that tells me I am so wrong!!
I applaud quilters who step out of the box and show me the way to beautiful. I tend to stay with safe color choices...and I know I need to move on.
Poodle skirts...LOL...been there and done that!!

I love all the colors! The more the better. I especially love turquoise and orange together.

I like all colors but I like them pure, not when they are "greyed" like the Thimbleberry lines. Would love to do a quilt in purples, sage greens, golds, creams/ivories, and ecrus. My all time favorite, though, is red, red, and more red.
