Cool Are there any quilters here around Mt Dora, Fl?

After 2 years to sell our house, pack, purge, etc; find a rental house for 5 months while we built, pack again, more purging and now unpacking...I am finally in my forever home & ready to start thinking about fun. After the holidays I hope to find a quilt guild to join but I heard a rumour that there is a long waiting list to get in. Any thoughts Ladies?

I wouldn't be surprised as Mt. Dora has a lot of retired folks if it is where I think it is. I lived in Pasco County til we moved to Poland and my parents are still t here. Enjoy the warm weather!

I have a stepdaughter who lives in Eustis. We visit there every year. I know there is a quilt shop in Leesburg and I think there is one in Deland, which is not real close, but maybe they could help you find a guild or group that meets.

Start your own! I'm sure if the others are all full, there are others who are just like you. Ask your LQS if you can put a sign up or maybe a signup sheet. It can be like Red Hats--just start a new hive!

I Googled and found this quilt guild in Mt. Dora:
http://lakequiltguild.com/

I've never heard of a quilt guild having a waiting list for membership. Would be interested in hearing why that would be. This particular website says anyone interested in quilting is welcome to come to their weekly meetings. What shocks me is that they have *weekly* meetings! I think most quilt guilds have monthly meetings.
