2 1/2" squares will make a 6 1/2" square 9 patch. The corner blocks for the snowball will be 2 1/2". Draw a line from corner to corner, line the little square up exactly with the 6 1/2" snowball square (all four corners). Stitch one thread width off the line (toward the corner) to allow for the fabric used when you press the triangle toward the corner. Make just one of each and check to see if the seams the line up before cutting more. I cut off the under part of the triangle to reduce bulk, but some don't.
The rose fabric - found it in the church storage closet - probably from the 70s, but I still liked it.

The outside white looks like they could be snowball with opposite corners snowballed and then cut in half the other direction. At least that is how I'd do it. It does look pretty simple.

Thanks for posting your graph, I think cutting an oversize square (maybe 4 3/4 or 5 inches), snowballing 2 opposite corners, then cut in half diagonally on the corners without snowball corners would work for the setting triangles. I wil have to test for size.

I would use a square 1" larger than the snowball block, and only piece two opposite corners, then cut once diagonally. You will probably have to trim the outside a little after sewing it all together.

Thanks again to all who've been so helpful, my apologies for not acknowledging you sooner. Have been at the hospital much of the time since Saturday; my dad fell and broke his hip (turns 88 next week). Not sure I'll be getting to the quilting as soon as I'd hoped, but look forward to using your tips when I do.
