I use the tan leather ones on my right middle finger and the short black leather ones on my left thumb. The tan one is called a Skin Thimble. I probaly have a dozen or more of them scattered all over my house. I keep little boxes with a small pair of scissors, some needles, a small pin cushion and of course thread anywhere I might sit down to handquilt. I also have those little kits in several tote bags that I carry to certain meetings etc. If anyone is interested I have a web site where you can order them. I am been able to find them in stores. They have a little piece of elastic inside. If it feels to tight I just snip part way through the elastic to loosen the thimble. They also have a little plastic coin shapped pad inside that keeps the needle from pricking your finger if it goes through the leather.

Look up www.ceratech.com. They are the company that sells the leather thimbles I am currently using.

thanks for the website info. i'll have to check them out, but you know what really bothers me....thimbles are like jeans, you really need to try them on!! even in the store it's usually impossible to do so also because of the way that they seal them in packages. so, i've been a little leery lately about buying a thimble that i can't try on--that's why those pads are wonderful-one size fits all!!

I read this with much interest because I cant find or use a thimble. I wanted to say I use a bandaid fora thimble but was embarrassed to say so but low and behold I see others use them to. They really work.

I need a couple different sizes as with heat or cold my finger changes size. Currently using one that was custom fitted at MQX by Ann's Pin Cushion. Pricy but when it fits I forget it is even on. I also have a Roxan thimble but it is heavy. Both are silver.

i do like the look of that and like that they have a sizing hole to see if it fits. i may have to order one of those and try it out!! thanks for the link.
