Default Startching fat quarters

I am making a small quilt using all fat quarters. I am startching, then pressing each one. However, it is not dry after I press. Will it stiffen up if I just let it dry naturally? I'm so impatient I want to startch, press and cut.

I press until the fabric is dry. Seems to me if you're impatient, pressing until it's dry is faster than waiting for it to dry naturally.

A tip - you will get better results (no flaking) if you let the starch soak into the fabric for a minute or two, instead of immediately pressing.

Are you using steam or are you just using lots of starch? The pressing should dry out the starch. You will have much more accurate cuts if you make sure you press the fabric until it is dry. If the fabric is still damp after you press allowing it to air dry may allow it to dry with wrinkles in it.

i second what Peckish said. Let the starch soak into the fabric fibers before ironing it. If you spray and then iron immediately, you will just iron off the starch.

Is your iron hot enough? You don't want it too hot as to burn the fabric but mine dries the starch/ fabric in no time. I tried one of those 4 inch mini irons once for a work shop because I thought it would be a great travel iron, it was junk.
