Does anyone else get butterflies before a class? I'm doing a monthly one at the moment with two lovely, patient teachers (and only four in the class), but I don't want to take my latest project (paper piecing top which needs squaring and then borders) as I think it's not good enough and have been up since 6 a.m. cutting fabric for a new project so that I have something to do. I'm nuts today.

why are you taking a class?
because you want to learn.
if you were already an expert you wouldn't need the class.
sooooooo ... there's no need to be embarrassed by what you believe is "not good enough". (besides ... it's probably a lot better than you think it is. :lol: )
you're paying for help to develop the skills you want. let the teacher earn her pay. take your "worst" to class so she can show you how to fix it.
trust me ... if she's a good teacher, she will jump for joy at the opportunity to help you.

You could be missing the chance to get help with the top you mentioned.You are paying for the class & 2 nice teachers should be more than willing to teach.

Please take your original top. May be there is nothing wrong with it, and if there is, who better to help find a soluton than the teachers?
Don't be nervous. I know it's easy to say, but they are there to teach you. I think they would be nervous if every body came with a perfect top LOL.

you should take the paper pieced project...you will get advice and help to square it and advice on borders and probably find out you are being your own worst critic and it is much better than you think...and if it's not you will get advice and help to find out why and how to do it better next time. it's normal to be a little nervous but if you never take the plunge you never get anywhere.

I used to get nervous before college classes if I was facing an exam, but when I started quilting I decided I would have fun. I've never been nervous before or at a quilting class, except for one. The instructor was like a drill instructor, and others felt the same way as I did. It was not helpful to me in any way, so I dropped the class. Life is way too short to put up with her nastiness.
