Unhappy Quilt store closing - Cincinnati

I took my first quilting class here. I received this in an E-Mail today.

Dear friends,

Some of you will have already received your postcards in the mail so you already know the bad news. I am very sorry to have to tell you that Best Friends Quilt Shoppe is closing. As you probably know, my mother (Jan) had a stroke in July of this year. We have been encouraged by her recovery, but we have come to the realization that she will not be able to resume her usual role in the quilt shoppe. So we have made the difficult decision to close.

We will miss the challenge of running a small business, the creative energy of our staff, and we will miss all of the great friends we have made over the last ten terrific years. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who have been so supportive of our little shop.

So, here's how this is going to work:

1. We will be CLOSED on Thursday to prepare for the closing sale (except for class).

2. Closing sale starts FRIDAY, and will continue until we are out of stuff or too tired to manage or both...

3. Classes will continue as scheduled.

4. Samples will be available for sale beginning Friday, and will be posted online probably by Sunday.

5. We will also be selling our tables, chairs, sewing machines, etc.

Re: MACHINE QUILTING - No need to worry, the quilters you have come to trust will still be available to you! I (Jess) am starting a new company to carry on the machine quilting aspect of our business. Cheryl, Katy and Sarah will be working with me to continue to provide you with this important service.

All quilts scheduled for pickup before Christmas will be completed as scheduled, here in the shop. We hope to be able to keep the quilting service in our current location for several more months. Your pricing is staying the same and our top-quality work is staying the same. We will retain our current contact number (513)385-2200 at least through the end of the year, and will contact all quilting customers in writing with our new contact information as soon as I have it. It is my hope that you will all continue to support our talented quilters, they are looking forward to continuing to work with you all!

Again, thank you so much for your support over the years. This is going to be a rough couple of weeks for all of us. I will put out an extra box of tissues.

Sincerely,

Jessica J. Doench

sorry to hear about this store closing. My sister opened a shop in May and I know it's been a rough 6 months for her. Wish all of the family well and prayers for continued recovery of the mother. If I lived closer , I would be there to support the store.

kimscruzer might need to correct me, but I don't think they are a sewing machine dealer. I think the E-Mail refers to the sewing machines they use for classes, if you don't bring your own. I was there in September, and I think I used a Viking Sapphire. I don't know what brand the other machines were.

The machine are the ones used for classes. They had just started selling The Easy Quilter . What class did you attend in Sept? I was in Labryninth .

Well that sucks! The hubby and I are making the rounds to the LQS here in Cincinnati and I hadn't made it there yet! What are their normal hours? I'm hoping to get up the Friday morning or Saturday....

They are closed on Thursday, Nov 10 to get ready for the sale. Normal hours are Mon-Fri 10-7, Sat 10-5 and Sunday 12-4. The website is www.bestfriendsquilts.com. You may want to check before you make a trip, in case they change their hours.
