Default 2 threads in one needle on the longarm

I have followed the thread on using 2 threads in one needle and wonder if this can be done on a longarm. Has anyone done this?

The area of my long arm that hold the thread has 4 spool posts & 4 wire thingies above the spools, like an embroidery machine. I've always wondered why there are 4... I guess the easiest thing would be try it on a scrap sandwich and see. I would use 60 wt threads and a large needle.

I thnk I have heard of quilters using something with a metallic thread. Not sure for what reason? for the color contrast or strength. Sounds like a fun play day!

You can definitely do this. I'd try out a sample first for tension and needle size. It does look beautiful.
