Turn Master Bedroom into sewing room?

Doesn't sound weird to me at all...it sounds practical and a whole lot less expensive than knocking out walls and merging bedrooms (which might adversely affect the resale value of the house in the future...). The master bedroom sounds like a great idea to me!

And I have been in a funk since Christmas and can't make my self go out there and clean it up from the Christmas sewing rush, so it is in a mess, and I don't want to face it (and can't talk a kid into coming over here and helping me get it ready for my next project. Oh well.

I was looking to buy a house, a couple years back, and there was no room to sew in except the master bedroom, in all the houses that I looked at, and the big walk in closets would make a good place for the stash. I have a husband, and I would do that. 2 of the smaller bedrooms for our clothes, and one becomes the guest room if anyone comes. Good plan, I would do it if I were you in an instant. I sew in a 11 X 12 bedroom, but most of the time I am in my kitchen, because of the counter top space in there. And there is a wonderful bath room in there, so handy, since you probably spend a lot of time in there. I cannot think of a better place for a sewing room.

What a lot of support for the master bedroom takeover (and quite rightly so!). Since when did we have to conform to some idealised magazine type layout for our homes? Homes are for living and working in, not as showpieces for others. Go for it and don't forget to show us the pics....you know how we love those

We are in the midst of planning a major remodel. I have a huge kitchen that I hate because it wears me out to walk so far to complete each task (I'm disabled). I got to thinking yesterday about moving the kitchen to a much smaller bedroom that adjoins the present kitchen, turning the kitchen into a quilting room (large enough for my long arm), reclaiming my DR, by getting the La out of there, which would actually adjoin the small bedroom turned kitchen which is currently not the case and finally it would allow me to return the sewing area to a complete guest bedroom. Same number of rooms and all functions of said rooms would be complete. It would also give us the space for the addition of a much needed 1/2 bath since currently the only bath in this house is in the master bedroom. I am obviously a firm believer in using YOUR space the way it best suits you. Go for it!
