I am planning on making a memory quilt for a friend's wedding nad have looked through lots of quilting books and at patterns online, but just can't for the life of me decide what pattern to use.
I have pictures of the couple printed on fabric in 6.5"squares, have various blue, turqoise and cream/yellow fabrics and a blue/turqoise jelly roll pack (which I don't have to use obviously if it doesn't fit).

I have only ever made one other quilt, so am looking for a fairly easy pattern, but also want it to be special. Most of the patterns I find involve diagonal squares, which would look weird as the photos are straight on the squares if that makes sense, so whatever pattern I do needs to include ten 6.5" squares in between the other pieces.

Any ideas?

I think the snow ball quilt would look nice for photos, I havent started quilting yet, but I would like to some time make one for my father in law, just lost mother in law last yr.

i did one for my MIL this Xmas. I just did make simple squares and sashes.

I would choose a medallion quilt pattern. This one is my favorite but it's on point: http://quilting.about.com/b/2009/06/...t-patterns.htm

But I have seen others that are done flat.

You could also do a Disappearing 9-Patch -
Put the photo squares in the "corners" that don't get cut, just pay attention to how your photos are rotated - would take some planning before sewing.

I just made a memory quilt for my daughter, she is a Tattoo Artist. I took 12 pictures of some of the tattoos she did and I did them in a square. Ist I did a black and white design sash around all, then a sash of a plain color within the tattoo to bring it out. Now Im putting 2 more borders around it. Its turning out much better than I expected. Just take a fabric that you think she will like and go with the colors within that.

what about making a simple block style quilt top then using some fusible web and machine applique it down, then sandwich and quilt (if you decide to use this method, you may need to add a tear away stablizer to the back before you satin stitch, since it could gather the fabric.)

I would do a snowball block but if you want something easier just do sashing around each picture. That would work too.

Thank you for all the replies and tips! And sorry if I keep using wrong terminology, as I am still fairly new to quilting. :)
I did look at the snowball quilts, and the ones I saw all had round snowballs, is that right? The photos I have would lose a lot of their charm if I had to cut the corners, which I am a bit worried about, but I may try cutting some pattern pieces on paper.
I also looked at the Disappearing 9 Patch and am quite taken with it, so will try to hunt down a pattern and see.

I really hope don't mess this one up... :?

Pratice one (1) patch first. See how it turns out then you can make the rest or change what your doing. You are printing these out on Sew-On Fabric Inkjet 12 Count sheets , right. They come out beautiful. Thats what I did my memory quilt on. You cant feel the differnce in the material at all.
