This is a great idea! especially if you're doing something that's fiddly (paper piecing??) and you're pressing contstantly.

Please keep safety in mind, ladies and gents!

Unless your wooden or plastic TV trays are a lot more stable than any I've had or seen, I'd be worried that the iron could go flying all too easily. Fire hazard? or burning yourself, family or pets?

Using plastic for an ironing board, even when it is covered, is more of a risk than I'd want to take.

Please be careful everyone

I used 2 layers of batting and regular fabric ,that's it...oh and I painted the legs black :-D
Did you use insulbright batting? you know the batting for pot holders etc...
No, just the warm& natural batting.

I had an old table in the garage but it was just not sturdy, so i went to Walmart and bought this one. This one is bigger and a lot sturdier,I just painted the legs black because the table was some yucky brown. It was $12.00

I've been using one of these for quite a while. My son had 2 that he picked up at Wal-Mart for about $8. He was moving and didn't want to take them so I grabbed one. I used an old towel for the bottom and a simple piece of flannel for the top. It was large enough that I just secured it with large safety pins. It sits by my machine when I'm doing small projects or blocks. Folds up easily and goes back in the closet when not in use. Another great thing to look for in your thrift store shopping....
