Default Update to melon seeds tute!! Can you believe...

...that I got the latest Keepsake catalog today and as I was scanning through it I saw a small ad on the pull-out order form for Template plastic that won't melt. Can be used to "press fabric over the edge for accurate applique piecing"!!

I swear I thought of this by myself! I did. I did. Please believe me! Truly it WAS my idea! You do believe me don't you??!!

for every idea out there, there are many people thinking the same thing. i'm sure your idea was independent.

    Quilters brains work differently!

Always thinking on how to improve, make things differently, how to use them in more than just one way.

Write your ideas and improvements down and get them pattented (SP).

Sorry Kitsie, I can't imagine how you feel.

Awwww, dang it. Doesn't it frustrate you that someone beat you to it? Next time, do something with your great idea before someone else comes up with the exact same idea. So sorry this happened to you. I believe you totally. I've had ideas and then saw them come to life through someone else and was pretty shocked that I could have actually made some money on my idea.

Well of course you did. We've all thought of things and poof! there they are. Someone snuck in and did it first! Blah! You didn't mention it on QB before did you? Maybe someone trolls QB for our ideas since we're a brilliant bunch of people and share our ideas and such. Then they steal our ideas and make bundles of money. Wouldn't doubt it.

I believe you. My husband was an editorial cartoonist before he retired and it was amazing the number of times two or three cartoonists would simultaneously come up with and publish extremely (same)similar ideas. It's almost spooky.

I invented Stitch in the Ditch when I was about 16 years old. That was back in 194?. I was making a dress and couldn't bring myself to sew the neckline facing down by hand. I hate hand sewing. So I thought I would try sewing it from the outside in the shoulder seam. My thread matched and I thought no one would know. Worked beautifully.

Proves we have 'sense'. What makes 'sense' to us, has and does make 'sense' to a huge amount of others. That 'sense' enabled others to get their ideas out there first and do something about it, like copyright and patent them. Takes money to do this, and lots of trials and tribulations. Now, do we all have the 'sense' to do something about our thoughts?

I have been using cardboard to 'press fabric over the edge for accurate applique piecing'. Works every time and I guarantee you it doesn't melt. I also use cardboard (the thin type used in picture frames) for measuring exact seams when I iron. I draw a line 1/4" (or whatever length I need) in from the edge of the cardboard. Then I place the fabric under the cardboard, bring up the edge of the fabric over the cardboard until it meets the the line I drew. Then I iron. Perfect 1/4" every time.
