I have been reading off and on messages posted. I would like a little more info, on the martelli ergo rotary cutter. What do yous like about the cutter. Does anyone see a difference from using the olfa cutter, and then getting the ergo cutter.I did check out some of the videos on the cutter, and I did order, the cutter. Can you use different cutting blades, or do you have to use the blades, for the ergo cutter. Any info, I would appreciate.. Don-isewman

I tried the Ergo cutter a few years back and can't get the knack of it. Now saying that, When I have seen them used, I thought, this is fantastic.
I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, so I went back to my Olfa. The Ergo needs the ergo blades as far as I know.

I got a Martelli last year and really like it. I felt my shoulder had less tension in it after lots of cutting. Downside for me: when I bought it at the NW Quilt Expo, the salesman in the booth said any replacement blades would work. I had a package of Olfa replacement blades at home, but when I put one in the Martelli, the Olfa blade hole is larger than the Martelli. This means that when I use the Martelli with the Olfa blade to cut, it doesn't roll smoothly. (Does that make sense?) Instead of buying Martelli replacement blades, I went back to using my Olfa cutter. I'll use it until I run out of blades and then will most likely buy Martelli replacements so I can go back to using that cutter.

I have the cutter,matt and the ruler, I got the set at Knoxville show a year ago $160. Love, Love the ruler as does not slip slide on fabric, and the cutter works great, use Martelli blades, and they tild us MAKE SURE you keep cutter up right when cutting, NOT at a angle as that will dull your blade real quick!!!!!

I have had the Martelli cutter for about 6 years now and I will never go back to fiskars or olfa. Love the cutter.
Blades seem to last longer, I can cut through more layers of fabric and there is less stress on my bad shoulders. I can even cut with it comfortably sitting down. I used Olfa blades in it for a while, but as sew connies says, it does not roll as smooth and is not good for the cutter. I bought a 25 pack of blades and shared the extras with all my friends that have the same cutter.

I've had one for several years and if you hold it at the proper angle, it will relieve strain on wrist, arm, neck...I really love it and wouldn't be without it.

I like my Martelli but my favorite is the 65mm ergonomic Olfa.

The Martelli really does make a difference on strain to my arm, wrist & shoulder compared to my Olfa cutters. It's easier to cut curves with it, also since its easier to control. I also agree with the previous posters that Martelli blades make it work more smoothly than others. My only complaint with mine is the fuzz that works up in it and has to be cleaned out. My Olfa doesn't suck fuzz up inside like the Martelli one does.

Oh, I should also point out since the Martelli is smoother to roll, it's also easier to nick fingers that are hanging over the edge of the ruler!

I had a bad fall and broke my right arm in 5 places 2 years ago. I could not use my Olfa cutter because I have a rod in my arm. I tried the Martelli and love it. Easy to use and easy to change the blade and I have no problem pressing down on it.
