I had a good-sized stack of beautiful lace given to me recently. Other than to use for under drapes and curtains to keep out the Sun, I can't think where else to use it.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? It is too pretty to just not use. One panel just fit our bathroom window.

Uses in quilting of course welcome.

Does it have an open enough weave to lay across a solid color to make "textured" blocks? So the color underneath shows through?

Could you use it for bureau scarves or table runners or piece them together for a beautiful tablecloth and use one in a crazy patch pillow?

I made crazy quilt stockings for all the kids and grandkids at Christmas and used large lace for the upper border and small bits in the seams of the stocking pieces. Here's a pic of the ones I made for my daughter and granddaughter.

I just reread your post and the type of lace you have wouldn't be really good for the stocking project. If you wanted to cut it into strips, you could use it as an overlay on some heart applique blocks. Could be really cute that way.

All great ideas!! I think I will just forget about it for awhile. Have lots of runners for tables, ect, ect, and it looks so nice; love it.
I have a pillow top started with the lace overlay and love it. Maybe make a small wallhanging with lace overlay--don't know what pattern.
Definitely all good ideas, and thanks to everyone!

What if you made a quilt of different colored squares under lace overlays? You could alternate the direction of the lace to look like a basket weave.

Lace is so versatile, the ladies gave you lots of excellent ideas, I like to use it in 9-patches, crazy patching, making flowers, and sachet bags.Love wolfkitty's idea of using it to get the weaving affect.
