I want to make a quilted billfold. Pattern calls for a piece of plastic to make a window for driver's license. What type of plastic do I use? I will be sewing it to fabric. I don't know what to use. Thanks.

I think I would use the plastic that they sell at WalMart. It's on a roll by the fabric cutting table. There are several different weights. I'd either use the meduim or heavy weight. Sews just fine with a size 90 needle. Take long stitches - like a 3.0 or 3.5 as you don't want to perforate the plastic and weaken it.

I saw that someone had used plastic for pockets in their bow tuck bag... I am going to try it also by using the vinyl I got from Walmart back in the fabric section...crossing finger it works.

I would try the same stuff for the wallet

The vinyl by the yard will work just fine. 25 years ago I made wristbands for a football team for their "code" sheet. It all worked so well that other teams were asking for them.
To keep your pressure foot from sticking to the vinyl, dip your finger in cornstarch and litely dust the seamline. It will wipe right off when you're all done.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'll make a trip to WallyWorld tomorrow to see if I can find the plastic you've recommended.

I saw on Pokey Bolton's quilting show this morning, you can use the clear table cloth like they sell at Walmart, or you can use an overhead transparency or you can use a clear page protector.

I have used the clear table cloth when doing a difficult applique pattern. You trace your pattern on it and lay if over the top as a guide. It would work for your project as well. Good luck! And post a pic when you are done, please.
