A friend of mine wants me to make a christening gown out of hers - I'm scared!

I need to do something with mine too. I am sure my dds will want to pick out their own new dresses when the time comes anyway.

I now have two wedding dresses hanging in closets - my own and my daughters. My daughter's was satin and had some embroidery on it - blues and greens mostly - towards the bottom of the skirt. It also had a shawl - also satin and lightly embroidered. When she said she wouldn't wear the shawl I laughed and told her I'd make a quilt for her first baby out of it. Fast forward 8 years and I did exactly that - a baby quilt from that shawl. When she opened the gift at her shower she broke into tears. Said, "I've been thinking of this, but didn't think there was any way you remembered." A MOTHER? Not REMEMBERING? Ha!

I was wondering the same thing? I have my sisters wedding dress, that I would love to make a quilt with it and give it to my nephew. I would like to see pictures. I don't know if I could cut up a wedding dress though.

I have made a couple out of weddign dresses and they turn out bezutifully.... I currently have a HUGE cathedral train that I plan to make a quilt out of. I obtained it from a dress that I altered and the girl didnt want the train at all and gave it to me... I had thought of making the wedding quilt for her... but she has expessed " it's really not my style"...... ok... happy me.. I think they are beautiful!
