Does any have the directions for making the
microwaveable Baked Potato Pockets. There
is supposed to be a special batting that you
line these pocket with to prevent the pockets
from catching on fire in the microwave. Corn on
the cob and potatoes are supposed to taste
awesome using this method

Yes the batting is special, it has 0 poly in it, as other cotton batting usually has traces in the scrim, I have been told :D

Also be sure that your thread is 100% cotton too, as well as the fabric :D:D:D

Here is a good tutorial..just make sure the fabrics, thread & batting you use are 100% cotton!! The poly blends will melt in the microwave and catch on fire. My daughter bought one at bed bath and beyond and it caught on fire the 1st time she used it!! I think it was imported so who knows what the lining was. Also don't wash it in detergent that has fragrance in it. It will retain it in the fabric and transfer to the potato when its cooking, never use any fabric softner either!!

Make sure you use the special 100% cotton batting, not warm & natural or Warm& white. They have a poly scrim that could catch fire.

I have often read about these baked potato bags...and I just have to wonder....WHY? Why, actually, would one need a bag? I just prick my potatos and stick them in the microwave for the preset amt of time and when they are finished, I just wrap them in a tea towel for a few minutes while putting the rest of the meal on the table. Then I just toss the tea towel in the laundry hamper. Am I not getting something here? And, I am in no way trying to be critical...I just don't understand! Please enlighten me.

They keep the skin moist and they don't overcook.

Thanks for the explanation, Linda. I may try to make a bag one of these days and try it myself! I just wasn't sure why I needed to make one.

when I mw my potatoes the skin tends to get dry and tuff? I assume the bag prevents this, same with rolls/bread when I MW them to reheat they can get tuff so maybe?????
