I have the Viking Sapphire 850 and I love it. I never had any problems with it. I have not heard of any problems with Viking. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

CA I believe, had their Viking and Pfaffs yanked because they also sell Babylock, Bernina, Janome and others. And yes, the decline in quality of both Viking and Pfaff since the buy out has been discussed at length here (again you can do a search).
We must have the same dealership...

I have always been a Pfaffee; from the Pfaff 130 to the Pfaff 2170 with a Pfaff 262 in between. But guess what??? I am going to get the new Viking Husqvarner Designer Diamond DeLuxe. Viking just had the convention last week in Reno and unveiled this marvelous machine. I did test drive the Viking Diamond at LQS a week ago and it blew me away so the deLuxe is even more fantastic. Check it out:
Well it won't do the dishes but.......

From the Reno convention......check out Marilyn Monroe and the pretty stuff that are displayed done on this machine!

I have a Pfaff 2170 embroidery machine and have been sewing on it for 2 1/2 years. I love it. But it is limited without the software for large embroidery fields. I don't see a quality problem here.

I just bought and picked up last week a Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe which was unveiled in Reno about three weeks ago at Viking Convention. I get my first orientation on Tuesday on the basic machine itself, the feet and what all they do. I have not even had time to play with it myself and it is still in the box. I am retiring and today is my last day at work!!! WooooHOooooo!

Thanks Heather! I appreciate that positive feedback. As they say in the ad, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend, and this one is a real gem!" Can't wait!

I have 2 Vikings, one Scandinavia 200 and one Sapphire 835. I had always wanted a Viking, for like 30 yrs or so. I have a Singer from 1934 and a old (workhorse) Kenmore (that I used for 30 yrs; until I gave it to my daughter. I have never had any problems with ANY of my machines. I bought my daughter a small Janome, that weighs about 4 or 6 lbs. She loves it and uses it for everything, including quilting.
