I worked on the string border for Jamestown Landing yesterday and got about a third of it ready. Just needed something more mindless than HSTs and today is the day to finish those up. Then press and sewing into the next steps. I also added straps onto 4 cushions DD bought for GDs to use on benches as school years starts at home tomorrow. I thought I was just adding two additional straps but the inferior ties that were there had to also be replaced. They weren't made of fabric but a shredding string. Attached is a pic of the Crazier Eight block I mentioned on Friday. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Finished putting piano keys and 1st border on nephew's quilt. I had bough some navy blue shooting stars fabric for another project and decided it would also be perfect as the 2nd border for this....off I go to the LQS ... Which has a line to get in AND has run out of this fabric. Of COURSE I look around and find something to buy.

then I head to John's and their flannel sale for backing (LQS does not have flannel). And at $3 OF COURSE I find a bunch of other flannels that tell me to bring them home. So then I wash and dry because J flannel shrinks like crazy. But I do a lousy job drying so I have fabric ironed but still damp spread all over the ironing board because putting it back in the dryer and redoing the ironing - that's just crazy talk!

And I still dont have what I need for this final border.

I went back to working on the binding of my quilt first thing before I even had my coffee. To my surprise I left the coffee sitting and forgot all about it until just a moment ago and it was almost cold! The progress on the quilt is pretty good.I have a long way to go and am more doubtful that I will finish it before days end. I am glad I have made as much progress on it as I have. I machine sewed on the bindings and am now hand sewing down the back side of the binding. I am not quite half done with this part. I figured I would take a break read a few post and then go back to work on this baby. This is the plan for the holiday.

I am just not used to my husband being home. Typically he works 6 days a week. They closed the plant for the entire weekend and while it's nice to have him around, I did have plans for sewing.

Today I'm not going to do what I want which is work on the Frolic project, but I am going to make him a couple new masks. They are opening up bowling for league bowlers and I have some specialty prints for the hubby, including bowling pins and not directly related to bowling but a favorite of the hubby, green martini olives on a white background. Hubby's hair has grown so much he's talking about channeling Kyle Troup, but we don't quite have the perfect outfit yet.

League was shut down last year and the lanes won't be open to the general public (like me) yet.

I have some masks to do, too. Granddaughter with 3 month old baby is a social worker in NM and makes house calls. She only has two masks and only mine fits well. She needs more than that so Grandma better get busy.
My quilt for the weekend is coming along, but I need to take out 18 inches. Whoops!

WMUTeach: I had to put a moratorium on starting new quilts until I finish the Summer Moon UFO and my leader/ender. With that said, I do have a QAYG class coming up on the 20th but it’s a table runner so it should be finished by the end of the month.

RhondaK: Wahoo for a small UFO finish.

tropit: Thank you! It does look like an abstract chain link fence. The quilters that left out the sashing have more of a chain link fence look. The designer made it to look like elbows hooking together for peace in the world.

Fabric Galore: Very pretty center.

I cut ‘frames’ for 9 of the Summer Moon blocks. It’s kind of a lazy day because it’s chilly (50’s), cloudy, and rainy. It was around 83 yesterday. Got to love MN weather!

I hope everyone had a fun and productive weekend. I finished the second hanging sleeve but couldn't summon the energy to start tracing applique shapes. Tomorrow is another day . I have enjoyed reading about and seeing pictures of what you're all working on. And while I understand the wolf spiders are beneficial, I don't want them either! Hopefully they will do their job and keep the brown recluses away though.

Today I sewed the binding on my Wonky Stars quilt and will take it to my weekly sewing night for the next few weeks to hand stitch it down. But that's about the sum total of my sewing for the past 2 days. I was in the mood to tackle some cleaning and since that notion doesn't strike often, I went with it.
