Just got home from a 4 day retreat with an instructor working on deJong and Niemeyer quilts. I don't have enough done to post a picture yet--but will once I get to that point. I need to get busy on the long arm this week and get a could of quilts out the door, but tomorrow I'm doing some catching up with all the things I got to ignore this weekend.

Default Sunday Update

Well, I lost my fiancé to a trip to our friend's house for a few days, he takes our laundry over to do it and while he's there, he checks in with other people we don't see often. He'll be gone for a few days, so it's just me and the two four legged kids, that means more quilting time, woo hoo!

Managed to get the fabric cut for my niece's quilt and some piecing done - let me just say that's not how it's going to be arranged later, I was excited to see how the different colors were going to play out against the black background. I'm super pleased with the results!

Monday Morning Report!
  • 4 blocks for my Harriet's Journey quilt, 6 inch blocks One finished three more cut for later assembly this week
  • 4 blocks for my Alcott Civil War quilt, 12 inch blocks. No work on this at all.
  • If time allows, pre-cut 4 additional HJ blocks to be assembled next week. Three more cut for later assembly this week
  • Finished a donation quilt top that had been staring at me all week. Done and just need to cut the back.
  • Got a pile of grading done in two online classes. Feeling end of he semester pressure to get'r done!
Looks like there are lots of good finishes and plenty of progress and that is just what we want.

Thimblebug, great scrappy quilt.
SBG, the real estate market is still crazy here in Maine. I negotiated a sale for some buyers from Texas who haven’t seen the house yet, I FaceTimed with them and they are paying $30k over asking.
Kathy, it appears you had a successful weekend accomplishing all of your blocks.
Railroadersbrat, enjoy your peaceful quilting time to yourself...

I assembled eleven off my twenty one rows to complete half of my king size quilt. My design wall is not quite big enough so I have folded it up and will now flip the pattern upside down and work from the bottom to the middle and then join the halfs.
I also got my Quilting Life BOM completed,

Enjoying all the pictures and progress going on - good show, y'all!

"Making room in my garage" turned into actually cleaning my garage - I now have plenty of space to set up my basting table, and the trash guys just hauled off a mountain of stuff I threw away. Good start on organizing what's left in there, too.

Now I'm too sore to put my basting table together.

But I made more progress than I'd planned so I'm happy.

Railroadersbrat: oo oo. just had to show you. I've never seen this rectangular block used, except a quilt I made some 20 yrs ago.
It's a king size spread on our bed.
king-spread-details-2-mp.jpg king-spread-2-mp.jpg There's concentric squares of black+cool colors and light grey+warm colors. It's definitely scrappy.

Same situation here! (. My son (who is a realtor in Iowa now) says it's the absolute worst time to buy a house.

Quilting Vagabond, your blocks look gorgeous! Hey, we need you back in the Boomerang swap. A new one just opened up for sign ups (#26).

Kristijoy, the scrappy grid that makes the majority of your quilt is so cool! Love it.

Pet, I love the 20 year old quilt you made with the chisel blocks. It reminds me of barbed wire. Too cool!

ooh ooh, I love yours! How pretty!

This is definitely a block I'll revisit, I just love how it's put together and I can see so many quilts out of it. I think it would be stunning with a natural background and some rose, pink, peach and maybe some real pale yellow - would be so romantic!
