what is the name of this block?
While at a retreat, I was working with a box of scraps. I made HSTs an only came up with 20 blocks. To make them into a more useful amount for a donation quilt, I added another triangle to each to make them look like this:

None of us could think of what this block is called. I'm sure I'll kick myself once you tell me LOL

l checked " Quilters Cache". Found it on page 2 named as " pinwheel" Note ... it is a part of 4 units rotated to form a 3 tone pinwheel block.

A square made from one HST and two QSTs - which is a bit cumbersome to say!
1 S = 1 HST + 2 QST
Many years ago Quilter's Newsletter magazine had an article about that unit. Then they showed variations of how to use that unit. I do not remember what it was called in that article.
