Late in joining but yesterday I finished piecing and quilting on a flannel scrap quilt, thanks to who ever posted on QB a flannel quilt with pieces set like bricks. I feel good because I've had this small box of flannel scraps kicking around the Mom Cave forever and it's been transformed into a nice cuddly quilt that needs to be trimmed and bound. I also 90% loaded a big scrap quilt on the longarm. Last VQW I was working on Courthouse steps scrap quilt using Christmas fabrics. I need to do something with adding a little length to the backing for that but I needed a break from that.

Juliasb- I’m so sorry about your mom.

RRbrat- I use my 60mm rotary cutter for everything except tight curves. I can cut through 8 to 10 layers of fabric with it, so it’s a real time saver. For tight curves I have a small (15?) rotary cutter.

Forgot to check in yesterday, but spent it in the quilting studio. I got two of the borders for my August Colorblock quilt custom quilted, and also got all my squares for the 36 16patches organized for the September Colorblock. Got 14 of those sewed, so 24 left to do.

Not sure how much I’ll get done since we’ve got a busy weekend scheduled, but here’s the list of what I’ll be working on this weekend:

1. Finish quilting August colorblock and get it bound
2. Additional quilting and some painting on a small art quilt
3. sewing up more of the 16 patches for September colorblock
4. final layer of quilting on my large doodle quilt

If I get all that done, I have another small art quilt and my Mandala quilt that need more quilting and color work and I need to get the Snail’s Trail Al Fresco top sandwiched.

Sorry for all the issues so many of you are dealing with. I just had surgery on a closed tearduct so really don't feel like doing anything much. Think I need to rest the eye also.

Life if so full of misery and after watching the morning news, am just so thankful we are safe from all the weather and tragedies going on in our world right now. Hope you all find some peace and serenity while creating, cleaning, etc.

I trimmed and bound this quilt yesterday. I made it to reacquaint myself with Deb Tucker's Lemoyne star ruler. I used 2 1/2" strips I cut from leftovers. I ordered a new panto to use and I really like it. Today I hope to start quilting another small quilt. I think this quilt is 55" X 65".

I will be with you in spirit but not sewing this weekend. My quilting mojo has been absent for about 3 weeks now - probably just distraction due to recent stressors, so once that is past hoping it'll return! In the meantime I'm picking away doing some organising and mending (!!), but nothing major.

However, I will love to read (and see) what everyone else is up to

I didn't get anything done yesterday because I spent the day with my mom.

I hope to get my Grand nephew's quilt yop done this weekend.. His dad studies the stars so the from will be a few large strips of planet/star fabric with yellow and blue squares in between. The back looks like the Milky Way.

California checking in; my neck of the woods has blue skies. The birds will show up when the sprinklers start running. They're fun to watch.

Yesterday 4 friends + I cut pillowcase kits, assembly line fashion; 29 kits with 29 yds fabric. One person worked on infant size Q kits. She's coming again today. And we'll finish 12-15 kits at 1.5 yds each = 18-21.5 yds. And backs/binding is another 24-30 yds. Downsizing is a lot slower than buying.

She stayed and we went to dinner. The forest is closed to everyone. Town was dead; Friday night and half restaurants were closed, so we drove to Oakhurst-no traffic. We two are the love-ethnic-food. Tandoori Grill, India Quisine. Great, no compromise on spice. Even had pickled fruit (needed bread and water). We'll go there again. We've decided to go to Fresno for Greek and Korean. There's plenty of Armenian and west Asian. Fresno has cultural diversity.

Coffee break/checking in -- ugh, when I switched to my old machine Remy, my seam allowances were all over the place but usually not very close to 1/4"... I rarely have things so bad I feel I have to take it out, but taking it out I am. Or at least two long seams per block, it will make it better if not perfect. Fortunately, the thread and stitches are a bit larger than the standard when I'm using my Bernina. It still makes me cranky to reverse sew... but frog stitching (ripit! ripit!) I am doing on the Froggy Beach project.

I've adjusted to the height difference pretty quickly as I'm fixing these blocks. Think I'm going to crank up the table height a couple more notches too -- I love being able to customize this stuff instead of just my chair or just making do.

Almost done the quilt on my long arm. It has been on the frame forever because I planned the design badly and didn't enjoy doing it, so just avoided it. Now that I have a baby quilt I need to finish before the 22, I have to finish the one that is currently on the frame.
When I get that one done, I'll load up the baby quilt and I am just doing a meander on it, so that won't take any time at all.
I'd also like to get all the strips cut for a scrap quilt that I am doing at my Tuesday sewing group. I'm hoping that I have enough background fabric for that.

I will be continuing with the cleaning and purging of my sewing room. I have already spent 3 days refolding and straightening the drawers of fabric. Now I just have 2 tables that my machines set on to clean off and put away. Then I will be ready to start a new mess. Have 2 quilts on the wall ready to be pieced together.
