Our local Wal-Mart got rid of their fabric department over a year ago and now have only a token sewing/craft area of little use to me or others I know. Before the store was rebuilt into a super Wal-Mart, I spent oodles of money there on fabric and notions plus other things. Now, I rarely go there for anything.

Was in our remodeled WalMarts this afternoon and discovered they had a big box of fabric on bolts. $5 per bolt. the sticker said 5 yards. Hope the keep this in their store. Maybe this is how they are going to sell fabric.

Notice the petition was started in 1999.
The latest copyright notice I found on the site is 2009.
I think I've actually signed it 3 times - !! :p

Just came back from the weekly Wal-mart trip and in the middle of the isle between the paint and what is left of a craft section there was a table with fabric. It was mostly older knits, rayon and polyester. It was 5 yard bolts for $5. I found a bolt I thought I could use but since I wasn't sure it was cotton I was a little skeptical. But THERE WAS FABRIC! I asked the sales lady in the section if they were thinking about bring back the fabric and she said she didn't know. She knew there was a town of unhappy women that they took the fabric department out. She said thought the decision was made by district managment and they didn't like paying someone to be available to cut fabric 24/7. I told her I send a weekly email to corporate headquarters weekly to let them know I am not a happy person that they took the fabric out.

I went to our WalMart today and they have gotten in so much new fabric. They said they will keep the fabric dept. when they remodel (they are starting to build now) and I hope they do. But just the fact that they have piles and piles of bolts of fabric everywhere is encouraging. Their Christmas fabric is really nice this year, and they have some beautiful fall stuff too.

I was at t he lacal wal-mart last week. I have not been there for a few weeks and I wasa surprised to find they re-arraanged the whole store and the fabric is only sold in pre-cut packs.

No more bolts and not much of a selection. There is a fabric store that just opened near by, but not a q

Fabric.com has all fabric on sale for 35% off! I have ordered from them many times. Their fabric is all first quality; great "hand"...none of the "see through" stuff. If you haven't been to their site before I strongly recommend you take a look. Their $9.99 a yard fabric is no now just $6.50. Not as inexpensive as Wal-Mart but a very good price for high quality fabric and their selection is wonderful. Good luck.
