Need advice on HEAVY Flannel
I am making a simple Turning Twenty quilt for my Grandson from Grandpa's old heavy flannel shirts--he was Grandpa's shadow when he was little.
I have been considering using a half inch seam allowance, because the fabric is so course I'm afraid it may ravel. Have any of you had experience with this? I am not concerned about the bulk because I'm not using batting, just backing with regular flannel and tying.
Thanks for any comments.

half inch seams are a must for flannel - ask me how I know! you could also use a small ziq/zag to help grab the threads better - just make sure that you put the needle in the same place on every seam so it's consistent.
