I was in Walmart on Friday night and there were big sale signs in the fabric department. About half of the Walmarts in the Richmond, VA area carry fabric. There were people with basket fulls of fabric, one lady bought $ 500.00 worth of fabric. I asked about the sale and was told that ALL Walmarts are getting rid of all their fabric and anything that had to be cut and measured. Needless to say I stocked up! No where near the $500.00 mark, more like S125. Now I need to cut back elsewhere, but it will be worth it!

Wish I had a Walmart here. I have to deal with Kmart and I cannot stand Kmart!

Walmarts in my area do not hold sales. I wish they did. All they have are the $1 yard (very limited) the $2 yard, and very few bolts that they lowered the price on. They never run a sale though. Must be the areas. I hear others on here talk about sales at Walmart on fabric. I wonder why all don't participate in that event...

The only reason the fabric is on sale now is because they are getting rid of it and not dealing with fabric anymore.

I would have done the same! One walmart here doesn't carry fabric at all and the two I normall go to still do but i can see they're starting to phase out. They don't announce the sales either. :(

I just RAN to my local Walmart after reading this and we are in Amish Country so they are keeping the fabric department, but I am about to go to two more that are 25 miles from my house. They are both in Penn State territory and probobly not in Amish territory so they might have the sale. We shall see. Stay tuned for more info.

Good luck. I guess the one in Amish Country would need to keep their fabric department. I know that the lady in the fabric department told me that all of the Walmarts were getting rid of their fabric. I didn't think but they could be doing it in stages. If yours isn't now, keep an eye out and it may be scheduled for a later date?

The WalMart here got rid of the fabric dept last week. Everything on a bolt was marked 50% off. I bought mostly the good muslin, bolts of Warm and Natural batting and fusibles. I can find fabric on line on sale but it's hard to find the basics like muslin and fusible on sale for %50 off so don't forget to buy those. I also bought yards of ticking, cotton canvas, and pre quilted muslin. Now all WalMart has are a few assortments of jelly rolls and fat quarters. The batik jelly roll is very nice fabric, buy that one.
